Uniform Policy

The uniform is an immediate symbol of belonging to the College community. We are proud of our College uniform and therefore it is to be worn with pride by all our students. The College philosophy on uniform and personal presentation is that appropriate modesty and self-respect enhance the development of the person. The assistance of parents is sought in maintaining a high standard of uniform dress and presentation by all students.

While there is no specific style of haircut for girls or boys, the general appearance of a student should reflect the high standard of the College uniform.
 • Hair should not be coloured.
 • Microplaits, dreadlocks etc are not acceptable.
 • Students are to be clean-shaven.
 • Nail polish and makeup are not appropriate.
 • In accordance with safety regulations, students must have their hair tied back at all times in practical classes.
 • Long hair, and hair which covers the face must be tied back.
 • Maroon or navy ribbons, scrunchies and headbands are acceptable.
 • The College reserves the right to determine the appropriate standard of uniform and presentation at all times.

Shoes for all students are black leather, lace-up, polishable, traditional school shoes, with a low heel. Joggers, jogger-type school shoes, desert boots, work boots, high tops, boat shoes or any other variations are not acceptable. Hats are compulsory in Terms 1 and 4.

For PD/H/PE classes, students wearing the correct sport uniform may wear it to school. Students who choose to wear incorrect or incomplete uniform may lose the privilege of wearing Sport Uniform on Sport days, be withdrawn from lessons, placed on detention or sent home. A student who is unable to wear full school uniform should carry a note from parents explaining the reason and giving some indication of when the correct uniform will be worn again. This will be signed by the Year Coordinator and handed back to the student. This note is to be carried as long as the student is out of uniform.

UNIFORM

The following procedures apply to uniform:

Hats are compulsory in Terms 1 and 4, for students in the sun. Students without hats are to sit in the shade.

• Students in incorrect or incomplete uniform are required to provide their Year Coordinator with a note during Homeroom. The note is to explain the problem with uniform and when correct uniform will be available. The Year Coordinator will determine, in consultation with the Pastoral Care Coordinator, whether a student in incorrect uniform will attend lessons or be withdrawn from class.

• Homeroom teachers are required to record students in incorrect or incomplete uniform on the green uniform sheet. This applies to minor items, including socks, ties and accessories. Year Coordinators will provide follow up.

• Students in incorrect uniform, including shirts, jackets, pants etc, are referred directly to the Year Coordinator.

• Students with coloured hair, microplaits, dreadlocks etc are referred directly to the Year Coordinator.

• Teachers of Sport and PDHPE are required to record students in incorrect or incomplete Sport uniform on the green uniform sheet. Year Coordinators will provide follow up. Students without hats in Terms 1 and 4 will be followed up according to PDHPE KLA rules for coming unprepared for class.

• For PDHPE classes, students wearing the correct sport uniform may wear it to school.

• If any item of the sport uniform is unavailable, students are to come in full school uniform and change into PE clothes prior to the lesson, changing immediately the lesson is completed.
